Alcoholism in Philippines is not considered a disease or addiction which needs to be treated medically. This is the reason why there are only few alcohol rehab centers here in Philippines, if ever there is any.
In western countries like United States of America, alcoholism is considered an addiction. I realized this when I watched the movie 28 days more than 11 years ago. The movie starred Sandra Bullock which entered a rehab center. In the movie, I learned that there were several kinds of addictions aside from drugs and that includes alcoholism.
Rehab centers are scattered in the US. There is one in San Francisco, the San Francisco drug alcohol rehab treatment center. They take addiction treatment seriously. Even known personalities in US who are proven addicts by the court are forced to enter rehabilitation centers.
